SURVIVING breast cancer was only half the battle for three local women, who continue to work in the community to raise awareness on the disease.
The Cockburn Diamond Dragon Boat trio of Jan Crow, Trish Truswell and Viv Wigg have shown resilience and determination in being part of the team.
To mark Breast Cancer Awareness month, the women took part in a corporate regatta race on October 17.
Team member Jan Crow said the social paddling team was an inspiration to women dealing with breast cancer.
“There is life after breast cancer, and I would encourage every woman to be vigilant with their screening – early detection is the best prevention,” she said.
“All the women around the dragon boat club have been tremendous inspirations in the community.”
Breast Cancer Foundation WA special breast care nurse Cheryl Potts said the women helped create awareness in the local community.
“They work hard to assist the foundation throughout the year and their efforts are truly extraordinary,” she said.
