LOCAL band Wrongtown is among the list of selected bands to compete in the Gozzy Rock heats from January 20.
Thirty entries were whittled down to just 16 by a panel of judges.
Several local outfits are among the competitors, while the rest hail from other parts of the metropolitan area including Claremont, East Fremantle, Mullaloo, Byford and Wandi.
Bands short-listed for the heats include The Fretlines, Pound, The Kings and Sons, Jake and The Cowboys, Hey Hurricane, Gombo, Spitfire Romance, Buffalo Everything, The Optimist, National Outrage, Here Come the Calvary, Stillwater Giants, Valhalla Nights, Between Oceans, Wrongtown and Ticket For Two.
Bands will go guitar string to drum stick at the Don Russell Performing Arts Centre in Thornlie on January 20 and 27, and February 3 and 10 from 6pm to 9pm.
Judges will then select eight bands for the final to battle it out in the Pioneer Park Amphitheatre in Gosnells on February 26 at 1pm, joined by guest bands. For more details about Gozzy Rock visit www.gosnells.wa.gov.au.
