TWO-kilogram boxes of toiletries and indulgence food have been sent to members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) serving overseas by a Thornlie church congregation.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Yale Road filled 50 care packages with socks, toothbrushes, razors, shampoo, deodorant, biscuits and confectionary to send to the servicemen and women.

The items were donated by members of the church and their families and were sent with a photograph of the church members and a letter of thanks to the defence personnel.

Tatiana Rochester (14) said she hoped the boxes boosted morale among the troops.

“It felt really good to do something that would really brighten someone else’s day,” she said. “It gave me more appreciation for the soldiers and what they do for our country.”
