Comments:

CECIL Andrews Senior High School graduate Renee Baker’s passion and choice of career has taken her a long way from home.

The Curtin and Tafe-trained nurse, who is in charge of plastics and reconstructive surgery at Mount Hospital, recently went to Tanzania, Africa, as a volunteer member of a medical team that operated on about 60 adults and children.

The 25-year-old said the team worked 12 hours a day in an effort to reduce the high number of people in Tanzania who died while waiting for surgery.

While in the country, she was also able to visit a child she sponsors through an international aid program.
