ARIA-winning singer-songwriter Clare Bowditch has recently found herself in the role of political and social commentator through television and other media.
The social commentary continues in Modern Day Addiction from a personal rather than a political perspective as Bowditch puts modern sources of discontent (and some hope) under the microscope.
The well-crafted music has fewer folk elements than previous releases, but covers many bases, most notably a refined, organic new-wave-influenced style on groovy pop track Bigger Than the Money and last year's single and Modern Day Addiction opener The Start of War.
Bowditch's fourth long-player is her first with new seven-piece backing band The New Slang, which features several members of usual backers The Feeding Set.
